It's only a preseason poll, but No. 1 is No. 1. Go Gators.
"What the win means for Louisiana Tech: It was quite the encore performance for Driskel and Dixon, who both finished their college careers with spectacular senior seasons. Driskel will have a strong chance of being selected in the NFL draft; Dixon will go down as one of the finest players in Louisiana Tech history. The bowl victory also gave Bulldogs coach Skip Holtz nine wins for a second consecutive year, back-to-back bowl victories for the first time in school history and plenty to build on going forward." - This is almost unbelievable. I know he's not playing in the SEC anymore, but who would've imagined that in one year someone would be writing "Driskel will have a strong chance of being selected in the NFL draft." For pete's sakes, I would've had a hard time believing he would be drafted by the Arena League. THIS is what happens when you have a coach who can actually coach.
Weird: It's almost like Florida pursuing every quarterback it could was and is maybe a hint about who Jim McElwain and Doug Nussmeier want taking snaps in 2016 and beyond...
This is very cool, even if you don't imagine McElwain thinking "NO MORE OF THAT OTHER GUY" while he's laughing.
What an amazing moment that was.
With the caveat that we're still not sure whether this account is 100 percent legitimate and legitimately Tabor's, this is the sort of trash-talking I enjoy. "You won't join us? Fine: We'll beat you."
You think fans might be excited to see this game?
Like we got the whole thing* bleached**. *Month of November, at least on offense. **Last time Florida wore all-white uniforms in the SEC Championship Game, Jim McElwain's team won!
Considering the relatively benign — if stupid — nature of the "choice" that led to this most recent suspension (about which more tomorrow), and the apparently democratic nature of his reinstitution, I don't have much of a problem with this.
But this certainly feels like what is truly a last chance.
