Spurrier won't attend Florida-South Carolina

20

"I’m not going to go to the game. I don’t think I should."

Steve Spurrier isn't about to stand on the sidelines and watch his alma mater take on his most recent employer. Which is smart, really: The jokes about Spurrier being a Gator at heart have some truth to them, and he'd be a distraction even if he showed up on the Gamecocks' sideline.

"We're the silent storm."

"We're the silent storm. And a silent storm is the best storm."

Jalen Tabor, to Pat Dooley. Whether or not that makes any sense, it sounds cool as hell.

"Since 1977, the most consistent team in the SEC has been the Florida Gators."

Jim McElwain gives update on J.C. Jackson

+

You know, he's got a lot of things that he's dealing with right now, and, you know, right now, obviously, he's dealing with those and trying to take care of certain things that he needs to, and, you know, we'll support him and help him do what he can. But right now he's not enrolled in school — and, you know, dealing with some things outside that are a lot bigger than the Florida Gators.

McElwain commented on Jackson's status during a Wednesday teleconference, confirming he is not enrolled at Florida.

Ryan Davis sheds light on picking Auburn over Florida

"There were some questions I had that (Florida) couldn’t even answer themselves," Davis said. "(The coaches) just got there. I can’t risk my future on something like that. I’ve got to go somewhere where I’m comfortable and that has a stable staff. They know what they’re doing and they know what they want to do with me. If the staff at Florida had a year under their belt, then yes, I could see going there."

Ryan Davis, to the Tampa Bay Times's Antonya English. (Davis's father: "Florida said they weren’t really going to know about the offense until the spring and they don’t have a wide receivers coach yet.")

Florida comments on McElwain, Freeze reports: "No job offers (to) anyone"

10

We will have no comment on the recent multiple reports other than to say that we have made no job offers (to) anyone and reports claiming that are false.

This, from the UAA's main official Twitter account, would obviously seem to contradict Steven Godfrey's report on Hugh Freeze "considering" an offer from last night.

Even NFL writers are piling on the Gators

r. It stands to reason, of course, that if Bowling Green beat Indiana by three and Indiana beat Missouri by four and Missouri beat Florida by 29, then Bowling Green would beat Florida by 36. Right?

Pat Dooley with a brutal assessment of Florida

2

The smell of this performance is something the Gator fans in attendance won't be able to get out of their clothes for awhile. It was a rotten milk and burnt hair poured into a used diaper and left in the sun for a month.

#GatorRace to award front-row seats to scavenging students

+

On Wednesday, Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., students can participate in the Florida Gators’ scavenger hunt - #GatorRace. Beginning around 10:45 a.m., six different clues will be tweeted out from @GZStudents about six different locations throughout UF’s campus and athletic facilities. Once students think they have figured out the clue, they will have to race to the location and find a representative holding a sign with the hashtag #GatorRace on it. After students arrive at the correct location, they must tweet a photo of themselves at the location and use #GatorRace. The first 40 students to arrive at each location will receive a small prize. The first team to go to every location and tweet a photo with the hashtag #GatorRace wins the grand prize of front row tickets for them and several friends for the Missouri game.

This is a cool idea. And I'm officially offering up my services as a location scout to anyone who wants them.

Feldman: Driskel will be most improved player in the country

53

Florida QB Jeff Driskel will be the most improved player in the country. He will get Will Muschamp off the hot seat and propel new OC Kurt Roper to a head coaching job of his own.

These bold predictions for 2014 from Bruce Feldman are pretty bold (he also has Leonard Fournette winning the Heisman), but the interesting part of this one isn't Driskel being improved — it's Roper getting a head coaching gig.
