Florida lacrosse plays in Final Four at 5:30: The Gators have revenge on Syracuse on their minds. Meanwhile, our Syracuse blog is trying to rally the troops to get a cheering section going at Stony Brook. (Scott Carter, GatorZone | Sean Keeley, Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician)

Joanna Mather's stellar career coming to an end: She doesn't get all the ink, but she was integral to Florida tennis' back-to-back titles. (Chris Harry, Harry Fodder | GatorZone)

Women's golf rallies at NCAA Championship: Being "tied for 11th" sounds way better than being "15 shots back of first." But the Gators could get a top-10 or even a top-five finish with a strong third round. (GatorZone)

Three Gators already set for NCAA Outdoor Track Championships: Many more could follow on Friday. (GatorZone)

Yes, baseball lost: But I'm writing that recap for a little later this morning.

Chomping At Bits: Patric Young Is Working Hard

Photo

Patric Young, working hard: There's a touch too much "I am leading this team" in this entry for me (show, don't tell), but Young says Florida basketballs's "headed in the right direction" in its offseason workouts. (Patric Young, The Gator Grind)

Kevin Sumlin, Will Muschamp trade barbs: Muschamp joked that College Station is a crap burrito (I'm paraphrasing); Sumlin fired back that Muschamp needs to worry about his own team. But is College Station a crap burrito? (Adam Silverstein, Only Gators)

Florida baseball gets Vanderbilt tonight: A spate of upsets in the SEC Tournament has made the Gators' road to a second straight tournament title easier, but the 'Dores are white-hot. (GatorZone)

Florida tennis in NCAA singles play: The national championship-winning women went undefeated on Wednesday, while the men lost just one player, and saw Bob van Overbeek upset the nation's No. 8 seed. Nassim Sillam plays the nation's top player on Thursday. (GatorZone | GatorZone)

Chomping At Bits: Will Muschamp Has 'A Loss' Planned For Mark Richt

It's another uncomfortably close picture of Will Muschamp!

Chomping At Bits comes stocked with the best Florida Gators links and news we can find. Got a link we should check out? Email us at AlligatorArmy@gmail.com, subject line CAB.

Will Muschamp knows how to make Gators fans happy:

Florida in Montrezl Harrell's top four: Am I hoping for Dorian Finney-Smith or Damontre Harris because I have a clue what their names sound like? Yes. (Kevin Brockway, Hoops Scoop | The Gainesville Sun)

Did Tim Walton do the right thing? Pat Dooley's probably heard the same things I have about Florida softball (which now go well beyond what has been reported here, though the veracity of rumor is tough to ascertain), but he thinks Walton did what he did for the best of the team. Do you? (Pat Dooley, The Gainesville Sun)

Florida men's tennis begins NCAA Tournament individual play: No Gators rank among the tournament favorites. (GatorZone)

Women's golf in NCAA Championship play: But the Gators are 18th after the first round, and are 16 strokes back of Alabama. (GatorZone)

Chomping At Bits: Florida Sweeps SEC All-Sports Awards, Again

Florida wins SEC All-Sports awards: The Gators won the men's, women's, and overall SEC All-Sports titles, staging a sweep of the honors for the fourth straight year. Florida's overall title is its 22nd and sixth in a row, UF is the only school to ever sweep all three awards, and the Gators tied for the SEC lead in conference titles in 2011-12 with three — despite the year marking the first time since 2005-06 that Florida hasn't won at least five SEC titles. Jeremy Foley inherited a very good athletic program, and made it possibly the nation's best. (GatorZone)

Tim Boyle, Ryan Buchanan visiting Gainesville: Florida's still looking for a quarterback for its 2013 class. (Zach Abolverdi, Gator Prospectus | The Gainesville Sun)

Analyzing Florida's schedule: With jokes so old that most current Florida players were not born when life created those punchlines! (Chris Low, SEC Blog | ESPN)

Misunderstanding the SEC-Big 12 bowl: Of course it's not going to match champions every year, or very often; the point is that the SEC and Big 12 are going to keep more of the revenue. (Mark Bradley, Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

Chomping At Bits: Florida Tennis Heads To Final Four

(Andy Hutchins/SB Nation)

Florida women's tennis two wins from title: And the Gators won't see recent nemesis Stanford, either. Florida plays Duke today at 1 p.m. Eastern. (GatorZone)

Analyzing Florida's defensive line: Swamp Things' pre-summer break has started! (Rachel George, Swamp Things | Orlando Sentinel)

Florida baseball is No. 3 seed in SEC Tournament: The Gators avoided a morning start, and play familiar foe Auburn on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Eastern. (GatorZone)

Mark Ellis' leg will be just fine: But it came close to being amputated. (Adam Silverstein, Only Gators)

Chomping At Bits: Florida Baseball Stomped By Samford

(Andy Hutchins/SB Nation)

Chomping At Bits comes stocked with the best Florida Gators links and news we can find. Got a link we should check out? Email us at AlligatorArmy@gmail.com, subject line CAB.

Florida baseball falls 12-7 to Samford, Preston Tucker ties career hit record: Florida, no-hit through four innings, fell behind 7-0 and 10-2 before rallying to make their midweek road game at Samford a bit more respectable, and Tucker went 2-for-3 to tie Mark Ellis' Gators record for career hits with 319. I am putting this in CAB because I do not want to write any more about this game. (GatorZone)

What would college football's realignment divisions look like? Well, Florida Tech, my hometown school of sorts, would have the chance to work its way up to the SEC. There is thorough and then there is this. (Jason Kirk, SB Nation)

Gainesville among nation's most well-read cities: But I know zero students who read outside of classes during classes. (CNBC)

Florida women's hoops to get tallest-ever player: That would be 6'6" center Vicki McIntyre, an Oklahoma State transfer. (Chris Harry, GatorZone)

Joakim Noah, winner: Part of the reason CAB is so late is because I was up late; part of why I was up late was my re-discovery of Basketball-Reference. Did you know Joakim Noah was eighth in the NBA in Win Shares this season? Now you do! (Basketball-Reference)

Chomping At Bits: Florida Baseball Has A "Call Me Maybe" Video Now

Chomping At Bits comes stocked with the best Florida Gators links and news we can find. Got a link we should check out? Email us at AlligatorArmy@gmail.com, subject line CAB.

Florida baseball does "Call Me Maybe": Not as good as Harvard baseball's initial viral video, and not objectively good — because these choreographed "dance" routines don't impress me much like Shania — but the surprise midway through it is awesome. Hudson Randall on lead lip-sync, front row left-to-right is Casey Turgeon, Nolan Fontana, Vikash Ramjit, Brian Johnson, second row is Preston Tucker and Mike Zunino, Austin Maddox is in the last row, and Keenan Kish ... kinda shows up.

More reason to like Marqui Hawkins: "He is a consensus three-star recruit, but has been heating up of late, with other offers including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and USC. If those offers are legitimate, expect Hawkins to soon be a four-star recruit." (Bud Elliott, SB Nation)

Will Hill signs with Giants: As someone noted to me on Twitter: It only took a year and another guy breaking his leg for Hill to get his NFL shot. (Adam Silverstein, Only Gators)

Did ESPN lose its way? Here is a compelling case in slideshow form. (Sean Evans, Complex)

Greg McGarity, Georgia's Jeremy Foley disciple: The Georgia AD's 18 years under Foley inform his decision-making. (Chip Towers, UGA Sports | Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

The history of West Virginia's logo: Nothing to do with Florida, but this is in an interesting read. (Jake Stump, West Virginia University Alumni Magazine)

Chomping At Bits: Florida State, Big 12 To Touch Off More Conference Realignment?

Sorry for the FSU pic. I just went with the most pathetic-looking one I could find; there were none of the stands at the spring game.

Chomping At Bits comes stocked with the best Florida Gators links and news we can find. Got a link we should check out? Email us at AlligatorArmy@gmail.com, subject line CAB.

Florida State, Big 12 dancing: The Cliffs Notes version of Florida State-to-the-Big 12: FSU, the ACC's flagship school, is one of the few ACC schools that can afford to explore its options after the league negotiated a terrible new TV deal with ESPN. And thus it is, at least, investigating the possibility of jumping to the Big 12, with these negotiations going messily and possibly being conducted in public through the outgoing chairman of its Board of Trustees. While this lit up Twitter this weekend, Jeremy Foley was probably stifling a smile and picking out a new pair of sunglasses or something. Bonus link: FSU picked the ACC over the SEC, once upon a time. (Bud Elliott, Tomahawk Nation | Dan Wetzel, Yahoo! Sports | doker, The Plus-Two Plan | Nancy Gay, Orlando Sentinel)

Florida lacrosse gets NYT treatment: Probably nothing you didn't know about the Gators' nascent colossus, but Foley could also have been reading this over the weekend, I guess. (Marty Cohen, The New York Times)

Florida baseball can take positives from Sunday win: The Florida bullpen, for example, is ridiculously good. (Scott Carter, GatorZone)

The USFL is coming back! I would guess we might see a franchise in Florida. (TheUSFL.net)

Modern slavery on Florida farms: The Tampa Bay Times report is from this weekend and about farms in Hastings, not far from Gainesville; the Gourmet report is from 2009. Neither will make you feel good. (Ben Montgomery, Tampa Bay Times | Barry Estabrook, Gourmet)

Deonte Thompson impressing Ravens: No, really. (Jason Butt, CBS RapidReports)

UF did not invent lovebugs: ...despite Brandon Spikes' assertions to the contrary. (UF/IFAS Extension)
