In some very awesome news, Gators Safety and EDSBS favorite Reggie Nelson has made the cut and is one of the three finalists for the Thorpe Award. This award is given to the top defensive back in the country:
On the defensive side of the ball, Nelson has collected 42 tackles this season, intercepted four passes and recovered a pair of fumbles for the Gators. Two of his four picks this season have come against Top-25 programs and his total of four interceptions ranks as the sixth-highest among SEC players.
The award will be given out on December 7th on the Home Depot College Awards Show. Safety Lawrence Wright was the last Gator to win this award in 1996.
