Gators Pick Up BIG Commitment

CB DeMarcus Van Dyke committed to Florida today, picking the Gators over both Miami and Ohio State:

"I'm a Gator," said DeMarcus Van Dyke, who loves the thought that Coach Urban Meyer's goal at the University of Florida is to field the fastest team in America. Friday morning, Van Dyke committed to Meyer and the Gators, a merger of Meyer's philosophy with the eye-popping reality of electronically timed 4.25 speed in the 40-yard dash.

Van Dyke is a 4-star recruit from Monsignor Pace HS out of Miami.  He is the 13th ranked CB in the nation and has the amazing speed listed above.  He is also 6'1, which breaks a mold of shorter corners at Florida.

Getting freshman talent at the corner position is very important, as the secondary may be depleted next season due to graduation and early entry into the NFL draft.

Here is a list of current commits to UF, as it looks like Coach Meyer and his staff are bringing one heck of a class once again.  The program is slowly building depth with plenty of very good young players.
