Matt LaPorta delivered the big home run against rival Miami yesterday. In doing so, he keeps adding to his resume that projects him as a first round pick come this June. Only this year everyone will be watching as he is the reigning NCAA home run champ from last season. I still expect big thing from him despite the fact he he does not even lead his own team in HRs to this point.
If anything, I am pleasently surprised with the pitching so far this season. It was one thing to see the Gators 1-2 pitching punch go through Cincy the way they did, but doing the same thing on Miami's home turf shows this team will be a player this season.
The Gators have already clinched the series against Miami, they go for the sweep today with freshman LHP J.K. LaCoste taking the hill.
