The Gator Baseball team has punched its way to the top spot in the country in the NCAA poll even before suiting up for its first game.
Florida has been ranked No. 1 in baseball five other times. Collegiate Baseball ranked the Gators in the top spot for one week each in 1962 and 1989. Baseball America ranked the Gators No. 1 for two weeks in 1992 and two weeks in 1996. The Sporting News has rated the Gators No. 1 once in 1996.
