Coming into this season there were big question marks about the 2006 Gator pitching. We knew that we had a ton of offense coming back, but we did not know how the pitching would perform. Alot of those fears have been calmed with the emergence of Bryan Augenstein who has pitched gem after gem.
I have been telling you about Augenstein all season, and he is finally getting some well deserved print
Quite simply, he is Florida's best pitcher. Mostly because he got a little smarter.Augenstein learned that velocity isn't the key to success in college baseball. He learned that you need more than two pitches and on Saturday displayed a nasty change-up to go with a refined curveball.
He switched from a four-seam fastball that had plenty of gas and no movement to a two-seamer with more movement.
Great-to-be-a-Florida-Gator!
