The Avery Atkins soap opera continues as he will transfer to another school.
The 5-foot-11, 189-pound cornerback was one of the jewels of Meyer's first recruiting class and the second to transfer (quarterback Josh Portis being the first). He played as a true freshman and was penciled in as the starter this year at one of the cornerback spots because of the departures of senior Vernell Brown and junior Dee Webb, who left for the NFL.
This still does nothing for his off the field problems which he is still facing. Urban Meyer was criticized for not kicking him off the team after he was charged. The school suspended him from the team. There was talk about Urban not living up to high standards when it came for his star athletes. I ask again how did he not handle this situation with class and doing what is in the best interest for the situation? So the chapter it ends it appears.
