SI on Campus recently did an article highlighting the top 15 freshman athletes in all of NCAA athletics (not just football). A very familiar face made this list, as the Gators speedy wide receiver/overall athlete Percy Harvin's name showed up:
This production should come as no surprise to anyone who watched the Virginia Beach native in action at Landstown High, where he also set five state track records, winning five gold medals at the state finals in 2005: long jump, triple jump, 100 meters, 200 meters and 400-meter relay. On the football field Harvin caught 75 catches for 1,313 yards with 14 TDs his senior season to go along with the 504 yards and 13 TDs he gained as a running back.
While on the subject, Harvin will be a game time decision for the Kentucky game, according to the Miami Herald:
Florida receiver Percy Harvin practiced for the first time Thursday after sustaining a left high-ankle sprain against Tennessee. He ran in the stadium before practicing minimally and will be a game-time decision against Kentucky, coach Urban Meyer said.
I'm just hoping he comes back 100% and doesn't feel any lingering pain from the ankle. He'll be needed during that middle chunk of the season.
