Degory Re-Unites With Ron Zook

The Florida Today is reporting that Mike Degory, former Gators offensive lineman, will join the Illinois staff as an assistant coach.  The Illini, of course, are coached by former Florida Gators head coach Ron Zook:

A former offensive lineman for the (Palm Bay HS) Pirates who eventually started 50 consecutive games at center for the University of Florida, Degory has accepted a graduate assistant coaching position at the University of Illinois. He will leave for Champaign, Ill., this weekend.

At Illinois, Degory will be reunited with Ron Zook, the Fighting Illini's football coach who ran Florida's program for most of Degory's time there.

"This is a step I'm ready to take," the 24-year-old Degory said Thursday. "I want to give (college coaching) a try before I get too old. This kind of opportunity does not come around every day."

Good luck to Mike.
