Caldwell Sticking Around for Another Season

New, 1 comment

Awesome news from Andy Staples:

University of Florida receiver Andre Caldwell will wait a year to follow in his brother's footsteps so he can try to make history in Gainesville.

Caldwell, a former Jefferson High star, said late Friday morning he intends to return to the Gators for his senior season to try to help Florida win a second consecutive national title. His older brother, Reche, left Florida to enter the NFL Draft after his junior season in 2000. Reche, who now plays for the New England Patriots, didn't try to steer his younger brother in any direction.

`'He just told me to do what my heart told me.'' Andre Caldwell said. `'You only get to experience college football once. The league will be there when I'm ready.''

This is BIG news for the Gators offense, who will already be losing impact WRs Dallas Baker and Jemalle Cornelius to graduation.

Caldwell caught 57 passes this season for 577 yards, including 6 touchdown catches - a career high for him following last season's injury that only allowed him to play in 3 games.
