Gators 5-star RB recruit Chris Rainey has been cleared of any wrongdoing stemming from statements saying he was given cash and gifts this season. The statement was made in the December 5th (2006) issue of The Miami Herald:
The FHSAA began an investigation into the potential violation by Rainey on Dec. 6. The investigation, which was concluded on Dec. 21, consisted of interviews with 20 different individuals, including Rainey. The investigator conducted these interviews during three visits to the Lakeland High School campus and by phone over the two-week period. The investigation found no evidence that would lead the Association's staff to conclude that a violation occurred.
Rainey, the Lakeland Senior HS RB, had an exceptional year for the state champion Dreadnaughts - running for 2,163 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Rainey will join fellow RB commit Bo Williams (Oakland Park, FL) in the 2007 recruiting class.

In other news: Word out of Gainesville today is that 5-star OL recruit James Wilson de-committed from USC to join the Gators commit list.
Wilson is from Nease High School in St. Augustine, a former teammate of QB Tim Tebow. He is rated the #2 OL in the country by Scout.com. Wilson joins the Pouncey Twins, Rainey's teammates at Lakeland, as OLs on the Gators 2007 commit list.
