Carlos Dunlap: Gator

Great news (Subscription required) for the Gators recruiting effort today, as 5-star DE Carlos Dunlap has made his commitment to the University of Florida football program.  Dunlap, the Fort Dorchester, SC product is ranked as the 5th best DE in the country by

Dunlap is an amazing athlete at DE, coming in at 6-6 and 240 lbs.  Not only does he have the size:  he was so athletic and quick in high school that he ran back kicks to go along with compiling 105 tackles and 24 sacks in his senior year.

This is just another 5-star recruit in this list of commits.  Dunlap joins TE Aaron Hernandez, RB Chris Rainey, DT Torrey Davis, LB Lorenzo Edwards and OL James Wilson as top-ranked recruits in the 2007 Florida recruiting class...and there could possibly be more with WR Terrence Toliver, S Chad Jones, S Major Wright, WR Deonte Thompson and DL Justin Trattou.

Welcome aboard, Carlos.  We're looking forward to your stay.

Update [2007-1-22 22:19:21 by Mark]:Here is a video of Dunlap's commitment you should probably check out. This kid is the real deal, and I'm extremely excited he chose to come to Gainesville to play his college ball.

Update [2007-1-22 22:54:59 by Mark]:I just found this article regarding Dunlap's commitment to Florida. Here is his reasoning for picking Gainesville as the place to be:

"Being away from home, I'm going to need a family," said Dunlap, who plans to officially sign with Florida on Feb. 7. "When I went to Florida, I felt that family support. I met the families, not just the coaches and their wives, I met their children and everyone."
