Humphrey Coliseum, Starkville, Miss.
The Gators (17-2, 4-0) will travel to Starkville tonight to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs (11-6, 2-2) at "The Hump."
The Gators are currently undefeated in conference and riding a 10 game winning streak, with their last win coming against the Ole Miss Rebels 79-70 in Gainesville. If you remember, the Gators took a commanding lead in the game, only to let the lead dwindle due to sloppy play and poor FT shooting. These are parts of the game that must be improved upon.
Joakim Noah is coming off a huge game in which he scored 24 points and pulled in 12 rebounds. G Lee Humphrey stayed hot against the Rebels from beyond the 3 point line, hitting 3-4 for yet another impressive performance.
The Bulldogs, similar to the Gators, have a fairly balanced scoring attack: They currently have 4 players who average in double figures. One of their top scorers comes off the bench in the form of Barry Stewart, who scored 22 points in Saturday's win over Auburn.
Combining strong guard play and a dangerous 3 point attack the Bulldogs are a pretty high scoring team, scoring close to 77 points per game. On the season they are averaging more 3 pointers per game than the Gators, who are known for shooting from beyond the arc.
The Bulldogs two conference losses have come on the road - at Tennessee and at Kentucky - two of the tougher places to play in the SEC. They are 9-1 in their last 10 home games.
Facing a team that shoots the ball well and spreads the scoring the wealth tonight, the Gators better watch themselves in Starkville. Momentum can be a very funny thing playing on the road in-conference, and if the Bulldogs get hot it may be tough to come out of their with a win this evening.
