Note: Since college basketball has more games, I won't be going into too much detail for each game like I have with football. Instead I'll have mini-previews.
Tennessee Tech nearly defeated Rutgers Friday night. But they shot only 34% and lost 70-64. Rutgers also could have won by more had they not shot only 12 of 22 at the free throw line.
One game cannot predict how Tennessee Tech will play against the Gators today. The Golden Eagles have an older unit, with only three underclassmen on the dress roster. Just like in the North Dakota St. game, an experienced unit can beat a young team, no matter what the skill level. But unlike NDSt., this isn't a team in the process of becoming a D-1 program. Tennessee Tech finished 19-8 last season and lost in the Ohio Valley Conference tourney to the eventual champions.
Tennessee Tech also has size in Amadi McKenzie. The 6'7" forward averaged 13.9 points last year and was second in the OVC for rebounding (7.8) and first in field goal percentage (60.8). Against Rutgers, he fouled out in 24 minutes, but had 10 points and six boards.
