Alligator Army Gameday Notebook: November 3rd

  • Mike Pouncey has been a college defensive tackle for six days but could save the crumbling defensive line. He will see time there with Clint McMillan and Lawrence Marsh getting the start.
  • Vandy is going to blitz the hell out of UF. So it's good that Tebow is nearly 100%. I think Georgia brought the blitz every time UF had five wide, so it might make sense to keep Rutledge in and only run four wide. As for Tebow running, let's start with Brandon James and see how that goes first.
  • The last time Florida covered in this game was 2004, so you might want to take Vandy +14 to cover. The over is at 50, so that's a no brainer as UF has only missed the over twice in their last nine games. With this defense, you might want to take the dog the rest of the season and the over. Of course that is if sports betting was legal.
  • In other news, Gator soccer defeated South Carolina and will pay for the SEC title Sunday. Currently, the Gators are two points back of league leading Georgia, but have a game in hand. Beating Vandy Sunday will give the Gators 27 points (soccer wins equal three points) and the regular season crown.
  • Finally a personal note; my high school, Sickles in Northwest Tampa, made the playoffs last night. It is the first time in the school's 11 year history and it happened on Homecoming night against a local rival in overtime. The Gryphons finished 7-3 (2-1 Class 5A-Dist. 6) after going 0-10 in 2006.
  • Stay tuned for our gameday open tread coming up at noon.
