Golf is in the midst of their `silly season'. For the Gators, their `silly season' ended with an 8-1 record. This afternoon's game against Georgia Southern (7-1) begins a stretch over the next two weeks against legit ball clubs; a young Charleston Southern, at Ohio State, and Temple in Sunrise.
Of these next four games, the Gators should defeat Charleston Southern and Temple, with a tested OSU being a tough challenge. As for today, this is exactly the type of game the Gators could lose.
The Eagles have some size inside, and of their seven-man rotation, only two are underclassmen. For any team with the make up of UF, size + experience will beat them. Not only that, GSU can put the ball in the hole, averaging 74 points a game. While their defense doesn't match up, allowing 69 ppg, the Gators cannot allow teams to get a fast start. The formula they've had this season, slow start then pull away, is going to get them caught. Hopefully the break for exams fixed that.
