Official Discussion: Gators @ LSU

4:00 pm - CBS
Maravich Assembly Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

The Gators will try and finish the regular season with an undefeated record against the SEC West today as they face off with the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge (14-13, 3-10).

The Tigers are currently in last place in the West division, and to make matters worse will be without their leading scorer, Glen "Big Baby" Davis, today.  Davis is averaging 18.1 points and 10.5 rebounds a game on the season, but has been missing action with a leg injury as of late.

While the Tigers, a Final Four Team from last season, has been struggling so mightily this season, the Gators have done just about everything they could have in-conference on the year.  Florida has already locked up the SEC Championship with their recent win over South Carolina, and have more than likely done enough to grab a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Without Davis today, the Tigers will hope to get a big game from forward Tasmin Mitchell, who currently averages 14.3 points/game.  He also shoots close to 40 percent from beyond the arc, so containing the three-point shot will be an important task for the Gators defense today.

According to Pomeroy, LSU ranks 122 in offensive efficiency, while coming in at 38th on the defensive side.

Florida is coming off a pretty poor offensive showing against South Carolina on Wednesday.  They shot 41% against the Gamecocks, well below their season average.  They also only shot 28% from the three-point line, once again, well below their season average.

On that note, LSU holds their opponents to just over 40% shooting and 62 points per game.  The Gators will need to bring a good offensive showing to Baton Rouge today if they'd like to win this game.

Go Gators!!!
