Monday Round-Up

Light posting as of late -- I'm very, very sorry for that.  Anyways, here's a quick look at Gators athletics if you haven't been paying attention:

The basketball team layed an egg in Baton Rouge on Saturday, dropping a game to the LSU Tigers 66-56.  This was a pathetic performance that there really wasn't any excuse for.

LSU, who was in last place in the SEC West coming into the game, deserves a lot of credit for their win.  They just beat the Gators in every aspect of the game -- even without their best player, Glen Davis.

--------------------

The Gators baseball team had a scary experience on Friday with 1B Matt LaPorta going down to injury.  Oh, and they also lost two of three to Kent State over this weekend.

Game one saw a comedy of errors, as the Gators committed six mistakes that helped the Golden Flashes win the game 10-4.  After a great performance from Stephen Locke on Saturday and a 7-0 win in game two, the Gators' bats couldn't produce any runs in a 1-0 pitchers' duel in Game three.

The series loss gives the Gators baseball team a 5-6 record on the young season.

--------------------

The Gators women's basketball team completed their sub-par regular season with a win over the Kentucky Wildcats on Senior Day in the O-Dome.  The win pushed their record to 2-12 in-conference and 8-21 overall.

It's been a tough year for the Lady Gators...hopefully the future brings brighter days to this particular program.

That's it for now.  Regular posting will resume shortly.

Go Gators!!!
