Moses Jenkins, a 3-star cornerback recruit out of Lauderdale Lakes, has chosen to play for the Gators according to GatorCountry. Jenkins joins a recruiting class desperately in need of secondary help after the 2006 departures, as well as the recent news of 5-star recruit Ronald Johnson choosing to play at USC.
Jenkins is not your typical Florida cornerback, coming in at 6'2. For as long as I can remember, Florida has never really had a large quantity of tall corners on their squad. Hopefully that turns out to be an advantage.
In other news from the day, LB Allen Bailey chose the University of Miami. Florida was one his last two choices coming into the day, and he ended up picking the 'Canes. Randy Shannon is doing a pretty good job of bringing in the recruits in his first months as head coach -- a pretty pleasant thing to watch for the Hurricanes fans who saw a pretty shaky situation in Coral Gables with the Coker firing.
Finally, CB/WR Bert Reed commited to FSU today, ending all discussion about the former UF commit. There was some talk last week that the UF coaching staff pulled his scholarship offer and he was more than likely going to end up at FSU. Well, that turned out true.
That's pretty much it for the recruiting cliffs notes of the day. Signing day is on Wednesday, so the madness that is constant speculation and rumor over the lives of 17 and 18 year old young men is almost over.
