The Lady Gators basketball team, a squad that was surely facing impending doom coming into today's SEC tournament opener, found a way to beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs 69-63 and extend their season at least one more game.
The Lady Gators had only won two conference games coming into today's affair, a poor performance that resulted in their head coach, Carolyn Peck, getting fired on February 12th. The win put the team at a 9-21 record overall on the season -- well below what Jeremy Foley and the Gator fans were expecting from this program when the former National Champion coach was brought in.
This season was very disappointing, but picking up this win seems like such an emotional boost for this team, especially considering the rocky road they went through. They have now won three of four and two in a row, in fact.
Today they will have a large task in front of them in the form of the Vanderbilt Commodores, a team that holds the three seed in the tournament and a #13 national ranking.
Anyways, good luck to the Lady Gators today.
