[Update] Ronald Powell says on ESPNU he could play redzone TE and DE. Powell has a chance to be the best athlete at UF ever. In my time, my top-5 UF athletes would be Harvin, Cornelius Ingram, Tebow, Gavin Dickey, Al Horford.
[Update] OL Chaz Green of Tampa Catholic picks the Gators. THE RICH GET RICHER!
[Update] Demar Dorsey to Michigan, not Jimbo's Flying Circus. The Sun's Aschoff is surprised with Dorsey picking Michigan over FSU. The Sentinel's Fowler says Dorsey did not want to compete with UF's stable of safeties.
[Update] Adrian Coxson is in.
[Update] FSU just picked up someone named Bjoern Werner, a DE from Germany. Oh my God, the jokes are writing themselves for Jimbo's Flying Circus. His ESPNU interview and comments about Tallahassee are epic, considering Tallahassee is fairly similar to the Eastern Bloc countries. (Werner is from Berlin, so we're just going to assume East Berlin. Hooray for Cold War jokes!)
[Update] We trust the Palm Beach Post's Ben Volin and he has Adrian Coxson and Chaz Green with letters into the UF football offices. That's 28 of 28.
[Update] Todd McShay officially makes the list of Gator Haters with his ESPNU performance today. He is stunned UF has a top class, going as far as to say there is a strong chance that Urban Meyer won't coach in the fall. There might be a slim chance Urban has another episode and doesn't return. But clearly these players are committing because of more than Urban. Florida offers great facilities, a great stadium, a rabid fanbase and a great school. God forbid some of these players pick a school based on more than who is driving the train. I'd rather have a kid come to Florida because of the total package, not because he likes Urban.
[Update] Darrin Kitchens is in. With Coxson and Green left, don't expect any upsets to go UF's favor as they have their max of 28.
[Update] Travon Van is reportedly in.
[Update] Travon Van is the only commit left to send in letter. Chaz Green will announce later but Lynden Trail saysUF has him.
Believe it or not, there are people who do not think National Signing Day is a National Holiday. While I spend the morning with some of those people, Timmy C and possibly a special guest will be jumping on and providing updates. Florida only has three spots left (of a max of 28), if you assume all current commitments stick with UF. In addition, there is no requirement that an athlete has to sign today. Here is the list of who UF has and is after. Times of signings taken from the Gainesville Sun's Edward Aschoff (Weimer Hall What!);
Undeclared with UF as a strong possibility:
WR Adrian Coxson (Baltimore City College High): Not highly ranked, but a big dude. He also ran a 4.45 forty. Expected signing at 11am. Picking between UF and Georgia. Previously dropped Penn State. IN.
OL Chaz Green (Tampa Catholic): Our top pick since UF only has one other offensive lineman in this class. Expected signing at 3:30pm on ESPN. Picking between UF, Tennessee, USC and Ohio State. However, fellow Crusader Christian Green is expected to pick between FSU and Georgia. IN
Undeclared but unlikely UF:
LB Christian Jones (Lake Howell): For everyone hoping UF pulls the upset here; Jones' father went to FSU. Expected signing at 10:30am on ESPN from the Disney ESPN Club. Favors FSU, but UF, Tennessee and Notre Dame among the possibilities. OUT (Signed with FSU)
Committed but waiting on signature (times via Gville Sun; "IN" will be included next to player when they commit):
LB Gideon Ajagbe: IN
RB Mack Brown: Expected to sign at 10am. Jimbo's Flying Circus also sent a letter for Brown to sign, according to the Sun. If there was a Nu'keese in 2010, this would be it. IN
ATH Jonathan Dowling: IN
WR Quinton Dunbar: Expected to sign at 9am. IN
WR Chris Dunkley: Expected to sign at 8am. Pahokee gets those faxes in early, right Lane? IN
DT Dominique Easley: IN
DT Sharrif Floyd: Expected to sign at 12pm. IN
TE Michael McFarland: IN
QB Tyler Murphy: This kid hit the jackpot. He was going to Temple before UF offered. Expected to sign at 8am. IN
DE Ronald Powell: Expected to sign at 12:30pm. Remember, Powell is three hours behind in California. IN
DB Cody Riggs: IN
LB Michael Taylor: Expected to sign at 9am. IN
DE Lynden Trail: Expected to sign at 9am with Dunbar. IN
ATH Travon Van: IN
DE Neiron Ball, QB Trey Burton, TE Gerald Christian, ATH Robert Clark, DB Matt Elam, DB Jordan Haden, DT Leon Orr, WR Solomon Patton, DB Joshua Shaw, OL Ian Silberman, DB Jaylen Watkins.
Also, Urban Meyer is expected to speak to the press at 4pm. At that time, Meyer will announce he is retiring/taking a vacation/will eat a baby as counter programming to Tebow's Super Bowl commercial/coaching in the NFL/Steve Addazio will watch the house for a few days. All of this depends on if you are on FSU/St. Pete Times/Huffington Post/Jaguars/UF message boards.
