The 2011 Gators football season just keeps getting better! Florida just announced, with a quote from Will Muschamp, that Gerald Christian and Robert Clark will transfer from Florida:
"Both of these players have expressed a desire for more playing time and felt that it would be in their best interests to transfer," said Coach Muschamp. "We wish them both the best of luck and appreciate their contributions to the program."
"I’m looking for an opportunity to play more," said Christian. "I have no bad feelings about Florida or the coaching staff, I just want to get a fresh start and see the field more."
"I’ve enjoyed being a part of the Gator program but at the same time I’m excited about future opportunities to play more," said Clark. "I will have nothing but good memories from my time in Gainesville."
The translation, here: Christian, a tight end, and Clark, a wide receiver, likely said something like "I want more playing time" to Muschamp, who said something like "Uh, that's not happening." And so Florida's anemic passing game loses two more little-used options, Florida's "You can play from Day One" pitch to recruits gets a little more potent, and the beat-up, depleted Gators lose more of the precious little depth they have.
Christian has four catches for 72 yards in 2011, and caught John Brantley's lone touchdown pass against Kentucky. Clark has zero catches in 2011, but he muffed the final punt return in Florida's 17-6 loss to Auburn. Additionally, he hauled in seven passes for 69 yards and a touchdown in 2011.
