The University of Florida released the contracts of John Pelphrey, Matt McCall and Norm Roberts, who all joined or re-joined Billy Donovan's staff for the upcoming year. Roberts and Pelphrey inked their deals in mid-April, and McCall signed his in late April.
The contracts are as follows:
- Norm Roberts: $235,000 annually, $10,000 from Florida's contract with Nike and a dealer car.
- John Pelphrey: $180,000 annually, $10,000 from Florida's contract with Nike and a dealer car.
- Matt McCall: $100,000 annually, $10,000 from Florida's contract with Nike and a dealer car.
Pelphrey comes cheap in part because he will also be receiving his buyout payment from Arkansas this year. He is due $1.8 million over the next three years after being fired as the Razorbacks' head coach this March. Fired former assistants are the new market inefficiency, I guess.
Also: Matt McCall is in his late 20s, and is making six figures to coach basketball at his alma mater. Nice work if you can get it.
