The No. 3 Florida men's golf team won the NCAA Southeast Regional at Golden Ocala by six strokes, finishing at 18-under par. Senior Andres Echavarria led the Gators at 9-under for the tournament, placing him fourth overall (his fourth top-five finish this season). The Gators led the tournament after the first round on Thursday, but Augusta State surged into first place on Friday after posting a 13-under performance. The Gators regained their composure on Saturday to shoot 11-under and win the tournament, their fourth win of the season.
Senior Bank Vongvanij finished at 7-under and tied for sixth place. Phillip Choi finished 4-under and in 12th. Tommy Mou finished 2-over and Michael Furci finished 10-over.
The top five teams at each regional tournament advance to the NCAA National Championship, hosted by top-ranked Oklahoma State at Karsten Creek in Stillwater, Oklahoma starting May 31. Other teams advancing from the Southeast Regional include Augusta State (No. 7), Kennesaw State, North Carolina State (No. 25), and Arkansas (No. 15). Four other SEC teams will be joining Florida and Arkansas in Oklahoma: No. 3 Alabama, No. 9 LSU, No. 14 Georgia, and No. 23 Tennessee.
