Chandler Parsons Drafted 38th Overall By The Houston Rockets

Florida Gator and reigning SEC Player of the Year, Chandler Parsons was drafted 38th overall by the Houston Rockets. Despite some hope that Parsons would be taken somewhere near the end of the first round, he slipped all the way to the eight overall pick of the second round.

Parsons joins a Houston Rockets team that is somewhat (based on a two second look at the roster) loaded on forwards. Along with first round pick (14th overall) Marcus Morris, former Kentucky Wildcat forward (and one-time Gators recruit) Patrick Patterson is already a member of the Rockets. Other forwards include Luis Scola, Chase Budinger and Jordan Hill.

Even though the roster appears to already have depth at that position, I highly doubt that Parsons will be sent to the D-League for further seasoning, and barring a lengthy lockout, should be ready to go for the Summer League.

Congratulations Chandler and good luck in Houston.
