All-Time Series | Florida leads 121-63-1 |
We just went through this four days ago with Florida being victorious 3-1 in a weather suspended game. In fact, the Gators and Commodores have already faced each other five times this year. This time around, the Gators get to face the 'Dores ace. No, no, I mean their other ace. You know, the 18th pick in the MLB Draft Sonny Gray (12-2, 2.12 ERA)? And Florida sends a man nicknamed Pants to the mound for this showdown. Alex Panteliodis (6-2, 3.95 ERA) has been the man Florida has turned to when they need to close out an important series. Pants marched out to the bump when the Gators blanked these very Commodores 5-0 to win the SEC Tournament Championship. He also closed out the Gainesville Regional with a win against Miami. He also beat Mississippi State in a decisive game three to put the Gators in the College World Series. Pants has gracefully taken his position as the midweek starter despite being last year's Friday night ace. If anyone deserves the success he's had this postseason, it's Pants just because of his ability to put the team above himself.
That being said, what are your thoughts? Let's play ball!
