Chomping At Bits: Where you can occasionally expect a roundup of Florida news!
Will Gators go 0-for-October? Scout writer Russ Mitchell thinks Florida will lose all four of its games this October, pointing out that the Gators came close to that dubious distinction in 2010.
Were it not for a thrilling OT win in the World’s Largest Outdoor you-know-what, the Gators would've done nothing in the crucial month.
The 2011 Gator team has issues, starting with the new coaches, the new schemes, questions at quarterback and consistent offensive production, the loss of several key players in the secondary, the wide receivers' apparent inability to capitalize throughout the spring, questions around durability at running back (yes you, Demps), and material
This is, of course, what happens when a month of your schedule reads "Alabama, at LSU, at Auburn, vs. Georgia (neutral site)." I don't agree with Mitchell, because I think Florida wins one or both of the games against Auburn and Georgia, but he makes a well-reasoned case.
ESPN will have "car wash": ESPN's term for a sports figure making the rounds at its Bristol campus is the "car wash"; the SEC's coaches will go through it next Monday and Tuesday. Will Muschamp is scheduled to be part of it on Monday. I suspect he will wear cowboy boots and be asked about his time-share with Jimbo Fisher.
Gators' basketball commit transfers: Tampa Plant star Michael Frazier, a commit to Florida's baskeball program in the Class of 2012, will now become Montverde Academy basketball star Michael Frazier. Frazier told TampaBay.comhis reasons have to do with fit: "Montverde is going to give me a chance to get ready and prepare for the University of Florida academically." But Montverde has also produced a number of high-caliber athletes in the past, including Luc Mbah a Moute, Solomon Alabi, and Steve Tchiengang.
