Florida Gators Close Fall Practice To Public, Media

The Florida Gators by way of head coach Will Muschamp have decided to close fall practice to the public and to the media. The players and coaches will be available after practice. That I believe, is a good thing.

As pointed out by the Orlando Sentinel, the practices in the spring were also closed. Mainly to keep any element of surprise that the coaching staff has, remains. Well, as we all know, the spring game didn't go as well as we would have hoped.

Aside from any distractions that can occur - *cough Meyer & Fowler cough* - this move is a good one. I've always said that I have no idea why any practice (for any sport) is open to the public. By opening practices to the public, all it does is add more questions than answers. And that is never a good thing.

The only drawback to this is that when stuff does occur (i.e., injury or argument) we usually don't find out about them as they happen.

Fall practice starts August 6th. I'm more than wiling to give Muschamp, Weis, and everybody else more than enough space to do what they need to do.
