Florida Soccer Tops Florida International, 2-0, Keeps Unbeaten Season Alive

Florida soccer finished a spotless opening weekend on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over Florida International that pushed the No. 9 Gators to 2-0-0 on the young 2011-12 season.

Florida got goals from Tessa Andujar — on a cross from Jazmyne Avant in the 40th minute — and Tahnai Annis — on an assist from freshman Annie Speese in the 63rd minute — to down the Golden Panthers in Miami. The Gators are 2-0-0 for the third straight year, and dropped FIU to 0-2-0.

Annis' goal moved her up to sixth on the Gators' career points chart: she now has 72 points on 29 goals and 14 assists.

Florida will face a pair of preseason top-20 teams when it plays next: the Gators will travel to Knoxville for the First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic this weekend, and face off with No. 11 Texas A&M on Friday and No. 16 UCLA on Sunday.

You better believe these headlines are going to get more and more outlandish if the Gators stay unbeaten.
