Florida's been the College GameDay darling for the history of ESPN's Saturday show, and the GameDay darling in 2012, as well. So it only seems fitting that the Gators will get the GameDay spotlight again this Saturday, when the show rolls into Hogtown before Florida's SEC clash with South Carolina.
It will be Florida's third appearance in a game GameDay is at 2012 — ESPN also spotlighted the Gators' road trips to Texas A&M and Tennessee in September — and a national-best 35th appearance overall. Florida is 23-11 in games GameDay has been at since the show first came to Gainesville in November 1995 to see the Gators match up with Florida State.
This will be Florida's 12th time hosting GameDay in Gainesville; in the show's 11 prior trips to The Swamp, Florida is 7-4, most recently beating Florida State 37-10 in Tim Tebow's final home game in 2009.
On both of the previous two Florida GameDay shows, Lee Corso has picked against the Gators by bringing out the live animal mascots of both Texas A&M and Tennessee. South Carolina has a live animal mascot of its own, Sir Big Spur, that Corso brought out to pick the Gamecocks over Georgia two Saturdays ago. Would you rather see him pick against Florida again or don Albert's head and Gator Chomp?
