Florida vs. Jacksonville State: Jeff Driskel out, Jacoby Brissett to start

Will Muschamp confirmed what most Florida fans suspected on Wednesday: Jeff Driskel's ankle injury will keep him out of Saturday's game against Jacksonville State, and fellow sophomore Jacoby Brissett will start in his place.

This isn't the first time a Driskel injury has elevated Brissett to the position of starter, as injuries Driskel suffered against Alabama last year made Brissett the starter at quarterback against LSU, where he made the first start by a true freshman Gators quarterback since Chris Leak.

Florida went 0-2 in the two games Brissett started in 2011, falling on the road at LSU and Auburn. And Brissett came on in relief in three other games — against Vanderbilt, South Carolina, and Florida State — that Florida went 1-2 in.

Brissett's only start (well, "start") that ended in a Florida win came this September, when he began Florida's season opener against Bowling Green under center before Driskel assumed quarterback duties in the first half. Against Jacksonville State, with Driskel fully out, Brissett should be able to secure his first true win as Florida's starting quarterback.

If he doesn't, he'll make some history: Florida hasn't lost to a non-Division 1-A/BCS opponent since losing to North Texas in 1947.
