LB Quinton Powell decommits from Florida, Gators down to 24 commitments

Florida added a linebacker to its recruiting class on Sunday. It lost one on Monday.

Florida's stellar recruiting class added a fourth linebacker on Sunday in four-star player Matt Rolin. It's back down to three on Monday night, with the decommitment of Daytona Beach Mainland LB Quinton Powell.

Amy Campbell of Scout has the story at Fightin' Gators, and leads it with "Quinton Powell’s official visit to Florida couldn’t have gone any better, but just one day after, he’s decided to decommit from the Gators. The 2013 linebacker has mentioned wanting to take other visits and now his recruitment is wide open."

Campbell had previously reported that Powell had been "looking around" last week, and Powell wanting to reopen his recruitment might be a sign that he's not likely to rejoin Florida's class. Meanwhile, Zach Abolverdi of the Gainesville Sun had Powell's official visit over the weekend shoring up his commitment — though it should be noted that Rolin's commitment came after that interview.

Florida will be fine with or without Powell, who was the smallest of Florida's linebacker recruits at 6'0" and 190 pounds.

I spent almost a minute trying to figure out how to lead with a "25 Or 6 To 4" pun, and that was a bad decision I regret making.
