Nelson Agholor, the No. 18 rated recruit according to Rivals, has committed to Southern California, announcing the news on television on National Signing Day 2012. Agholor, who played for Berkley Prep in Tampa, Florida, chose USC over Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame and Oklahoma.
Agholor said in making his decision that many things were factors, including academics, comfort level with the coaches, and that he will start out trying to play on offense. He also mentioned that he "went with his heart, and has been a long-time USC fan."
Agholor had zeroed in on USC on National Signing Day after also considering Florida and Florida State in the final moments. He also said that playing with Hesiman candidate Matt Barkley was a big factor in him picking USC instead of Florida or Florida State.
Agholor was the third-highest wide receiver in the Rivals rankings, trailing Dorial Green-Beckham and Stefon Diggs respectively. He joins a Trojan squad that has a big-time need at the wide receiver position (and a few others) due to the youth movement that is going on there. Agholor is expected to make an immediate impact.
