Dante Fowler Jr. Commits To Florida Over Florida State

Dante Fowler Jr., the No. 28 rated recruit according to Rivals, has committed to the Florida Gators, announcing the news on television on National Signing Day 2012. Fowler Jr., who played for Lakewood High in St. Petersburg, Florida chose Florida over Florida State, who he'd be committed to for months.

Fowler had zeroed in on Florida on National Signing Day after also considering Florida State. Fowler visited Florida numerous times even though he told the Florida State coaches that he was still committed to signing with the Seminoles.

According to SB Nation's Bud Elliot, Fowler was concerned about the Florida State depth chart and more specifically the other defensive recruits the Seminoles are putting together this year.

Fowler was the third-highest weakside defensive end in the Rivals rankings. He joins a Gators squad looking to play the BUCK position that is currently manned by Ronald Powell and sometimes Michael Taylor, when Powell needs a breather.
