Florida Gators Track And Field Heads To SEC Indoor Championships

The Florida Gators track and field team heads to Lexington, Kentucky this weekend for the SEC Indoor Championships. The championships begin today at 2:30 p.m and is host to numerous teams ranked in the Top 25 of the USTFCCCA poll, including four in the Top 10. Arkansas (No. 1), Florida (No. 2), LSU (No. 4), Mississippi State (No. 10), Auburn (No. 17), Mississippi (No. 22) and Georgia (No. 24) all enter the weekend with a chance to win an SEC championship.

Led by seniors Jeff Demps, Gray Horn and Kemal Mesic, the Gators return seven SEC Indoor Champions from last year and appear to be in position to repeat as champions.

In action for the Gators on Friday are: Horn (heptathlon).

In action for the Gators on Saturday are: Horn (heptathlon), Dwight Barbiasz and Frankie Hammond Jr. (high jump), David Levin, Jeremy Postin and David Triassi (weight throw), Omar Craddock and Marquis Dendy (long jump), Horn, Eddie Lovett and William Wynne (60m hurdles), Demps, Hugh Graham Jr. and Leonardo Seymore (60m dash), Tyler Cardillo, Matt Mizereck and Harsha Torke (mile), Graham Jr., Tony McQuay and Jovon Toppin (400m dash), John Mitchell, Sean Obinwa and Daniel Wehunt (800m dash), Dedric Dukes and Seymore (200m dash), and Jimmy Clark, Josh Izewski, Mizereck and Torke (3,000m).

In action for the Gators on Sunday are: Max Lang (pole vault), Craddock and Dendy (triple jump), Mesic and Stipe Zunic (shot put), Clark and Izewski (5,000m) and contingent upon advancing are Horn, Lovett and Wynne (60m hurdles finals), Demps, Graham Jr., and Seymore (60m dash finals), Cardillo, Mizereck and Torke (mile finals), Graham Jr., McQuay and Toppin (400m finals), and Mitchell, Obinwa and Wehunt (800m finals).

The distance and 1,600m relays are also scheduled to take place on Sunday.

All of the events will be streamed live on UKAthletics.com (and here with no audio) except for Saturday from 2:05 - 7:30 p.m. and Sunday 1:30 - 5:00 p.m. The events that will take place during those hours will be streamed live on ESPN3.com. As for a television broadcast, well, better late than never. ESPNU will be airing a 90-minute condensed version of the Championships on March 11th beginning at 5:00 p.m.
