Chomping At Bits: Are Ronald Powell's First Two Seasons A Disappointment?

Chomping At Bits comes stocked with the best Florida Gators links and news we can find. Got a link we should check out? Email us at, subject line CAB.

Ronald Powell and Mike Gillislee improving: I strongly disagree with the opening sentence in this article. In fact, I'll admit that I didn't read the entire first section of this article because of it. I'm wondering if the author understands football. I'm certain that he didn't watch last season at all. The other three sections (Gillislee, quaterbacks and freshmen) are good. (Greg Luca, The Independent Florida Alligator)

Defensive line depth an issue again: The good news is, it can't be as bad as last season. (Robbie Andreu, Gatorsports/The Gainesville Sun)

Offensive line on notice: I'm so glad that Tim Davis is in and Frank Verducci is out. At this point, it's looking like a Xavier Nixon, James Wilson, Jonotthan Harrison, Jon Halapio and Matt Patchan first-team starting rotation. (Matt Watts, The Florida Times-Union)

Gillislee the No. 12 running back in the SEC: I don't read Bleacher Report all that much, but I can tell you that Barrette Sallee is as good as they get when it comes to college football coverage. (Barrette Sallee, The SEC/Bleacher Report)

Former Gator Chris Martin on the move again: This time, he's going to play for City College in San Fransisco. At least that's the plan anyway. Though if you're a betting person, the safe bet is that he'll play or at least enroll at another school by September 1. (Jason Lieser, Gator Bytes/The Palm Beach Post)

Texas A&M AD has a little regret: The last paragraph is interesting. (Jon Solomon, The Birmingham News)
