The Florida Gators track and field teams will be in action today at the Tom Jones Memorial Classic. As we said last time we got together to talk track and field, the Tom Jones Memorial Classic is a big-deal in Gainesville, Florida. The men's team will enter the meet ranked No. 1 in the country (266.06 points) and the women's team will enter ranked No. 7 (186.14 points).
The Gators will compete alongside athletes from Bethune-Cookman, Brown, UCF, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Florida Tech, McKendree, Ohio State and Tampa. Also in the field will be former Gators track and field standouts Will Claye and Christian Taylor. Both Claye and Taylor will be using the event as a tune-up to the 2012 Olympic Team Trials or to qualify directly to the summer Olympics this year in London, England.

Like the women's team, the Gator men will also run their "A" team in both the 4x100 meter and 4x400 meter relays. The men's team will also run their "B" team in the 4x400.
