2014 defensive tackle Travonte Valentine (Palm Bay, Fla./Valentine) has committed to Florida, according to Scout's Jason Higdon. He announced his commitment on his Facebook page, but hadn't contacted the Florida coaches. He finally got through to Will Muschamp, and the Gators accepted his commitment.
Valentine committed to Louisville in late May before deciding to reopen his recruitment on July 15. He was in attendance for Florida's Friday Night Lights camp, where he said Florida State was his leader. Something changed, apparently, and he committed to Florida today. But 2014 is a long way away, though; he's committed to two schools in as many months, so there's always a chance he'll do it again.
At 6'4" and a shade under 300 pounds, Valentine has deal size for a down lineman. 247Sports rates him an early four-star. They also have him ranked as the third-best tackle in the country and the No. 32 overall prospect in the 2014 class.
Valentine joins Ryeshene Bronson in the Gators' 2014 class. With Florida nearly finished with its 2013 class, the coaches can turn some of their attention to next year and start building relationships with the next group of prospects.
