Florida Football 100 For 100, No. 71: Can This Be Matt Patchan's Year?

There are 18 days until Florida's September 1 opener with Bowling Green. There are 71 entries left in the 100 For 100 series. So it's four entries per day from here on out.

Here's the full list of redshirt juniors on the Florida roster with three varsity letters:

Yep, Patchan's it, sidelined by season-ending injuries in 2008, 2009, and 2010, and receiving medical redshirts for both of those last two seasons. Patchan's the star-crossed Gators player in the over 250 pounds division, or the one Jeremy Brown's not in, and we haven't even mentioned him getting shot in the back yet.

So Patchan's got two more years in Gainesville if he wants them, and he's got a chance to become the player people thought he could be in high school. He's added weight (Xavier Nixon may have eaten every day in that class, but Patchan was chowing down, too), and looks like a tackle instead of a converted tight end. He's not working with the first team, but he's got an SEC (or NFL) frame.

Theoretically, Patchan just needs to stay healthy to play well. In practice, staying healthy's been one hell of an issue for him. Do you think Patchan can do so for a full year?
