Chomping At Bits: Jelani Jenkins is on the mend; could he be back for LSU?

Could Jelani Jenkins be ready to play against LSU on October 6?

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Chomping At Bits (Should it be Chomping At Bits or Chomping at Bits? You decide!) comes stocked with the best Florida Gators links and news we can find. Got a link we should check out? Email us at AlligatorArmy@gmail.com, subject line CAB.

Jelani Jenkins' recovery: There is talk that he might be able to return for the LSU game in a week and a half. He's going to see a specialist on Friday and we'll probably know more by then. If you know, Muschamp actually says anything important. (Staff, Tampa Bay Times)

The growth of Jeff Driskel: He's getting a lot of praise (it's well deserved, as we all know) from not only just the local guys, but national guys as well. Here's yet another one. (Matt Watts, The Miami Herald)

Omar Hunter wants more: Despite being named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week, he still isn't satisfied in his last year in orange and blue. Someone get the man a sack! (Scott Carter, Fox Sports Florida)

Gators' offense finds spark: Does all the praise go to Brent Pease, or is the fact that Driskel is performing at a high level? Could it be something else entirely? All I know is that from the second half of the game against Texas A&M, when the Gators switched to an option-style offense with lots of movement, things have been on the up-and-up. (Hays Carlyon, The Florida Times-Union)

Speaking of Pease: Is he poised to make the jump into the head coaching ranks? Personally, I don't know if one year at a big-time school is enough. But, then again, maybe that's just the Gators fan in me. Nah, one year isn't enough. I'd like to see what an assistant can do over three years or so if his end game is to become a head coach. (Chris Low, SEC Blog/ESPN)

Gators, Dawgs and 'Cocks lead SEC East charge: Is the SEC East trio of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina better than the SEC West trio of Alabama, LSU and... Mississippi State? (Associated Press, The Washington Post)

On this date in Gators history: It was four years ago when Tim Tebow stood up to the podium and delivered "The Promise." While a great little speech and all, I still don't think it should have been nailed Martin Luther style to The Swamp.
