Defensive lineman Sharrif Floyd, who is leaving Florida after his junior season to enter the 2013 NFL Draft, told the world on Facebook that he had bought an ad running in Wednesday's edition of The Independent Florida Alligator to thank Gator Nation. Via Alligator editor Joe Morgan, here's that ad:
Here's the text:
Dear Gator Nation:
For the last three years all of you have become my "family" as I grew as a student, an athlete, and a person. On the football field, we won together, lost together and bled together. It was a very difficult decision for me to leave this great University so I could pursue my dream of playing in the National Football League. I promise that I will not be a stranger to Gainesville and that I will be back from time to time to visit old friends and watch the Gators win another National Championship, which I am confident Coach Muschamp will lead us to. Thanks to all the UF students, professors, coaches, and administrators. You are the best!
Gator For Life
Is it misty in the room you're in?
Thanks, Sharrif, and good luck. You are the best.
