Video: Patric Young gives Billy Donovan a Gator-aid bath for 400th win at Florida

I love this team.

Al Messerschmidt

Florida's basketball program is ascendant and happy and a host of other predicate adjectives with sunny connotations, too, and it's mostly due to Billy Donovan, who recorded his 400th win as the Gators' head coach on Saturday in Florida's 83-52 obliteration of Missouri.

Donovan won't ever concede that, of course, because that's just who he is.

"All of those individual things, as it relates to coaching, it’s much, much more a reflection of the players I’ve had to coach here," Donovan said. "That’s really what it’s about. I don’t look at them as my wins. I look at them as University of Florida wins."

But that doesn't mean we can't love Donovan for being a great, great basketball coach — or love that Patric Young absolutely soaked him with a surprise Gatorade bath — or water from a Gatorade cooler, anyway — in the locker room after the game, a moment GatorVision caught on camera.

There are a lot of things to love about these Gators, and if they keep playing at the level they have been at since SEC play began, there will only be more in the future.

And there might be more Gator-aided baths, too. "And I tell you what: That was really, really, really cold," Donovan said. "I mean: Really cold."

But if this Florida team accomplishes everything it is capable of, the last one of the season could also be very sweet. And I don't think Billy the King — Billy the Kid doesn't fit anymore — would mind.
