Jarran Reed commits to Florida: Gators get one of nation's best JUCO players, depth at DT

Jarran Reed's long-delayed announcement has come: He'll be a Gator.

USA TODAY Sports

Florida's National Signing Day could have been over with the commitment of Jay-nard Bostwick early Wednesday morning. But the Gators have at least one more commitment, with East Mississippi Community College defensive tackle Jarran Reed announcing he will head to Florida, according to the school's Twitter account:

Reed being "officially" a Gator in EMCC's terms doesn't necessarily mean he's sent in the National Letter of Intent that would make it official, but the school announcing Reed along with a number of other JUCO players suggests this is a done deal.

Reed extends Florida's pipeline to EMCC, which has also produced Gators Damien Jacobs and Darious "Bear" Cummings, and adds to Will Muschamp's flip list, as he was previously committed to North Carolina and, as recently as this week, Ole Miss.

But Ole Miss' spectacular close to the 2013 class helped push Reed out the door, and the Gators are getting a very good four-star JUCO prospect at defensive tackle as a result. Reed has good size at 6'4" and 305 pounds, and has four years to play three seasons, so he'll have plenty of time to get to the optimum playing shape.

Florida's probably done with the 2013 class as a whole with Reed's commitment. Probably.
