Florida's going to be without both main parts of its backfield battery at the beginning of fall practice. Florida coach Will Muschamp told reporters at Thursday's preseason media availability that sophomore running back Matt Jones has a viral infection, and is out indefinitely.
Muschamp says #Gators RB Matt Jones out with a viral infection. No timetable on his availability.

Florida breaks camp on Friday, and so it's a sure bet that Jones will miss at least some of the beginning of the Gators' fall practice period. Florida was already without Jeff Driskel, who had an emergency appendectomy Tuesday, and was expected to miss around two weeks.
Jones' reps will likely go mostly to Mack Brown, currently slated to be Florida's No. 2 running back this fall, and to whichever freshman, Kelvin Taylor or Adam Lane, steps up in the first few days of camp.
But, mostly, this is another piece of news that can't sit well with Florida fans, who have endured an offseason with one mishap after another broken up only by the tragic and colossally dumb. Can something go right, please? Like, a fast-forward that gets us to the season, so nothing else that is bad can happen?
