Florida vs. Kentucky: 20 years ago, Chris Doering had a touchdown

The best moment in the history of the Florida-Kentucky series happened 20 years ago.

20 years ago, Chris Doering scored a touchdown.

It was actually a little more than 20 years ago now, as it happened on September 11, 1993. But the combination of the dramatics in that 24-21 win over Kentucky — which featured Danny Wuerffel spelling Terry Dean and firing that game-winning strike to Doering, a walk-on, with three seconds left — and Mick Hubert's immortal "DOERING'S GOT A TOUCHDOWN" call make it by far the best moment in the history of a series that has been decidedly one-sidedsince the late 1980s.

GatorVision's got a superb 20-year anniversary video commemorating Doering's score that's definitely worth seven minutes of your time. (It's the one embedded above.)

Additionally, Gainesville's TV-20 caught up with Doering, and got some good stuff out of him about Wuerffel's Mr. Two Bits gig (I, too, noticed what Doering noticed), and wanting to keep his SEC record for receiving touchdowns.

Florida plays Kentucky at 7 p.m. tonight on ESPNU, and, yes, it's going to be a long wait until then, why do you ask?
