2015 defensive back Deontai Williams of Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville committed to Florida on Thursday in a ceremony at the school.

Williams's commitment was expected, especially after Trinity Christian teammate Jeffery Holland, one of the nation's top linebackers in the class of 2015, spilled the beans on Twitter earlier this week. He is Florida's only commit for the class of 2015, but was not the first: Miami Central wide receiver Da'Vante Phillips committed over Florida's Friday Night Lights in the summer of 2013, then decommitted just before fellow Miami Central playmaker Dalvin Cook flipped to Florida State in December.
Rankings aren't really set in stone for the class of 2015 just yet, but the 247Composite ranking rates Williams as a three-star prospect. His commitment to Florida, though, portends more for a loaded 2015 crop of Trinity Christian players.
Williams, who follows in the footsteps of TCA alumni Nick Washington and Kavaris Harkless in committing to Florida, is perhaps the first of a handful of Trinity Christian players in the class of 2015 that will end up chomping — and TCA is home to some of the best players in Florida. Current TCA players Kevin Toliver II and Holland — who has the Gators near the top of his list — are the No. 2 and No. 7 players in 247Sports's Florida rankings 2015, and rumored TCA transfer CeCe Jefferson is No. 3.
Four more Trinity Christian players — new Florida State commit Kendrick Norton, safety Ben Edwards, and North Carolina commit Andre Smith, linebacker Victor Alexander, and Williams — check in among the top 100 players listed, with Williams showing up at No. 79.
And Florida's pursuing another TCA player in 2014, wide receiver Isaiah Ford, who listed the Gators among his top four on Thursday.
If Florida can clean up at Trinity Christian in 2015, it will have a strong shot at building a top-five class nationally in 2015. And it stands to reason that every little edge helps in that effort.
