Florida will start Treon Harris at quarterback against Georgia next Saturday, Will Muschamp confirmed in his weekly appearance on the SEC teleconference on Wednesday.

Harris led Florida's only scoring drives against Tennessee and Missouri, relieving Jeff Driskel late in both games, and while he played against a tired Tenneseee team and against Missouri in garbage time, his spotty play has certainly still been significantly above Driskel's level. In Florida's last four games, Driskel has accounted for four touchdowns and 12 turnovers; in the same span, Harris has accounted for just one touchdown, but has also committed just two turnovers.
And with Driskel regressing to that level of play, Harris getting the call as Florida's starter is overdue by a game or two, though extenuating circumstances likely helped sidetrack him.
Harris will be the first freshman to start at quarterback for Florida against Georgia since Chris Leak. In 2003, Leak was largely ineffective for the Gators against the Bulldogs, but did throw a touchdown pass to Carlos Perez in a 16-13 win.
Let us hail good decisions made, even if they have been made too late for much to matter, and hope that they turn into great play.
