Florida vs. LSU: Tigers open up as one-point favorites on the road

It'll be a battle of the warted on Saturday in Gainesville, but LSU has Vegas's favor for now.

Opening lines for Week 7 of the 2014 college football season are out, and, per OddsShark, LSU is favored by one point over Florida in the Tigers' trip to Gainesville.

So, yes, Florida is opening as a home underdog against an LSU team that has lost its last two SEC games by a combined 39 points, and counts as its only win over a "Power 5" opponent this year a defeat of Wisconsin, which was Melvin Gordon-less in the second half of that contest.

Some of this has to do with Florida's own issues — the Gators needed overtime to best Kentucky, and a fourth-quarter rally keyed by defense and freshman quarterback Treon Harris to pip Tennessee — but a one-point line favoring LSU suggests that oddsmakers think LSU would be four points better than the Gators on a neutral field.

I don't really agree with that, and we'll certainly get into some of that this week, but we should also note something else: Vegas odds had the Gators favored against Tennessee at first, before shifting to the Vols.

And while it was Florida that covered ... the initial line of Florida by one was spot on.
